Daniel Wright of Phenix Solutions Joins the SAE International G-35 Committee for Modeling, Simulation, and Training for Emerging Aviation Technologies and Concepts
September 27, 2022
McMinnville, OR. Phenix Solutions has announced that Daniel Wright, Director of Airworthiness and Certification, has joined the SAE International G-35 – Modeling, Simulation, and Training (MST) for Emerging Aviation Technologies and Concepts Committee to help develop new simulation standards that promote safety and technology advancement in the certification of piloted and remotely piloted aircraft.
The SAE G-35 Committee will develop standards for aircraft, including new market piloted and remotely piloted aircraft, and potentially operated autonomously, in support of certification regulations. The committee will develop standards for implementation across the stakeholder community to support technology development and certification of aircraft, simulator devices, aviators, and operators. Efforts will also determine the applicability of modeling for qualification and certification using simulation for flight testing.
Brian Riese, President and CEO of Phenix Solutions, explained, "We are pleased that SAE International is searching for talented people to develop standards that could help to define upcoming rules and regulations for the UAS certification and integration process. We started our journey at Phenix Solutions to build a certified aircraft that meets customer's needs while increasing safety. Being able to help define this path for ourselves and others is an honor for Team Phenix. We know Dan will be a tremendous addition to this group with his knowledge and years of experience in certification and manufacturing aviation products."
Mr. Wright brings over 35 years of aviation experience to this working group. He started his career with the US Air Force and has since lead programs in all aspects of the aviation field, including R&D, experimental, certified design, development, and flight testing, and has worked with several space companies to design, manufacture, approve, and launched multiple components. Dan mentioned, "I am excited about this opportunity to continue to work closely with the G-35 Committee including the industry, the FAA and other regulators to help develop standards to support new rules and regulations that support Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) as a compliance method for certification. There is a need for these types of groups to acknowledge, advance, and integrate technologies such as MBSE into the certification process to allow efficient, cost-effective, and safe compliance. I am delighted at this privilege to continue my work with like-minded aviation professionals."
